UnlimitedToGo is a service provider focused on bringing high-speed internet to residents of rural areas. Advertising their 4G LTE service as unlimited, unthrottled, and high-speed that you can use at home or on the go. It makes them a good choice for people living or spending a lot of time in remote areas like the RV community.

As an MVNO—mobile virtual network operator— UnlimitedToGo has agreements with T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T mobile carriers currently.

Packages and Pricing

You can choose between three plans with UnlimitedToGo, depending on which carrier has the best coverage in your area. The speeds will also depend on signal strength and coverage, but you can at least expect regular 4G or LTE speeds—from 20Mbps to 50Mbps, potentially more.

UnlimitedToGo Blue

As the cheapest option available from UnlimitedToGo, you’re looking at $99.99/month with AT&T being the carrier you’ll get your signal from. For this plan, you can also choose the MOFI4500 SIM4P LTE Router.

Note: This plan only seems to be available intermittently so always check the website or with UnlimitedToGo directly.

UnlimitedToGo Pink

If you have decent coverage from T-Mobile, then the Pink plan is your best choice. It does cost more than the blue plan and takes a leap at $149.99/month, but you can often get it discounted to $139.99/month.

With the Pink plan, you can choose between the MOFI4500 SIM4P LTE Router or your own compatible router and simply buy the data-only SIM card instead.

Note: The card is not compatible with mobile phones and will only work with a router or hotspot.

UnlimitedToGo Red

The Red plan is intended for those who have the best coverage from Verizon. It is the most expensive option, costing $199.99/month, although like the Pink plan you can often get it at a discounted price of $179.99.

With the Red plan, you can choose between the MOFI4500 SIM4P LTE Router, Novatel 7730L Mobile Hotspot, or NETGEAR AC791L Mobile Hotspot.

All plans are advertised as unlimited, with no data caps, and no throttling of data use or speeds, but the acceptable use policy indicates this isn’t entirely true.

Network Management and Performance

UnlimitedToGo offers its services via an underlying carrier, meaning that it doesn’t own any of the infrastructure. They simply have a contract where they can utilize unused data and connections on cellular towers and offer internet services this way.

But, this means that if there’s congestion on any of the towers, the carrier will prioritize their own customers first over UnlimitedToGo customers resulting in slower speeds and connections.

UnlimitedToGo also states that they do not warrant that their services will have a particular speed, data throughput rate, or bandwidth, and they also have no warranties on uninterrupted service.

Their acceptable use policy also states that as a customer, you must ensure that your activities do not cause excessive data usage that might impact other users or the service negatively. If this happens you will get an email notification and your account will be de-prioritized, basically meaning your speeds will be throttled. There’s also no information or hard numbers on what exactly constitutes ‘excessive use’.

Fees

As UnlimitedToGo is offered as a prepaid month-to-month service, you won’t have to deal with additional fees. Unlike a lot of other providers, their website doesn’t list other types of monthly fees except for the usual monthly plan rate.

It is unclear whether there are any activation fees you need to pay before you can use their services, but the website doesn’t list or mention any so it’s unlikely.

UnlimitedToGo Modem & Router Review

There are two types of devices on offer—routers and mobile hotspots. The routers require a continuous power supply via a power outlet and have no mobile capabilities whereas mobile hotspots are fully mobile devices that can be used on battery power. Usually for up to 24 hours, but can be used while plugged into a power outlet as well.

The list of currently available devices includes:

MOFI4500 SIM4P LTE Router

The MOFI4500 is a rugged enterprise-grade router that comes with support for LTE-Advanced and carrier aggregation. It has:

    • Four LAN ports
    • Four SMA ports (two of which are dedicated to Wi-Fi and two for 4G LTE.)
    • It supports a maximum of 300Mbps download speeds and 100Mbps upload speeds.
    • And it delivers the standard 2.4Ghz 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi signal to all your devices.

You can choose between standard and LTE Ultra Wide-band antennas for $19.99 extra.

MOFI4500 SIM4P LTE Router

This mobile hotspot is available with the Red plan and can supply internet to all your devices for 24 hours on a single charge. It features:

  • A color LCD touchscreen for ease of use
  • Type-C USB connectivity for fast charging
  • Micro-USB port for charging
  • You can also set up a separate guest Wi-Fi on the hotspot, keeping all your devices secure.
  • Connect up to 15 Wi-Fi devices on this hotspot.

It comes with the Category 9 LTE module, which means it can support LTE Advanced speeds. The refurbished version is the only one that’s currently available and it costs a one-time fee of $149.99.

NETGEAR AC791L Mobile Hotspot

The NETGEAR mobile hotspot is also available with the UnlimitedToGo Red plan. It’s an LTE category 6 hotspot that supports download speeds of up to 300Mbps and upload speeds of up to 50Mbps. It can be set up and used easily thanks to the 1.77″ LCD screen with touch support. And it also comes with two TS-9 connectors and a micro-USB connector.

Up to 15 devices can use it simultaneously, and its battery is strong enough to last up to 24 hours on a single charge. The refurbished version is available for $99.99.

As mentioned, Pink plan users can provide their own device and order the data-only SIM for a one-time charge of $20.
Note: There is currently no list of compatible devices available on their website, so it’s best to call them to check directly if you want to use your own.

Features and Benefits

No contract required

The service offered by UnlimitedToGo is prepaid month-to-month, and therefore, you won’t have to worry about being stuck with them. If you don’t like what you get, you can simply stop.

14-day refund policy

The refund policy states that you won’t be billed for their services for the first 14 days, so you can easily call them to cancel if you’re not satisfied. The cost of the device you order and shipping fees have to be paid, however, and it is unclear whether you will be refunded for the device or not.

Hotspots for internet anywhere

You can choose a mobile hotspot instead of a router to take your internet anywhere you go. If you’re in an area where signal coverage is good, you will even be able to get a continuous connection while driving.

  • Or via live chat on their website.

No matter which channel you choose, you should know that their open hours for each are from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM PST from Monday to Friday, and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM PST for Saturday and Sunday.

Customers seem to be satisfied with the overall service, and most emphasize to check coverage before you buy or you could be disappointed with the service.

Ways to Save on UnlimitedToGo Internet

Bring your own device

You can save up to $300 if you choose to use your own router or mobile hotspot. Just make sure to contact the customer support to check the list of supported devices first.

Start with the lowest cost plan

Higher cost doesn’t automatically mean better service. Check whether the lowest cost plan carrier is available in your area and provides good coverage, and stick with that plan if they do.

Our Recommendation UnlimitedToGo Satellite Internet

If you’re looking for a solution with no strings attached, UnlimitedToGo is a good choice.

As an MVNO internet reseller, they offer a good solution to rural residents who live in areas with spotty internet coverage or don’t have any infrastructure to support traditional internet options at all.

Since they offer a no-contract, prepaid option for all their plans, they can even be used as a backup plan in case your primary internet provider isn’t all that reliable.
